At Maxwell Radiation Shielding, we have over 30 years’ experience in manufacturing and installing custom-designed lead lined solutions to ensure the highest level of safety for patients and employees. This extremely malleable material can be used for brand new construction or existing diagnostic imaging rooms undergoing renovation, by affixing the lead laminate to surfaces and walls.
Lead-lined Laminate Sheeting, Glass and Doors
Laminate Sheeting
As manufacturers and installers, our lead lined laminate sheeting can be bonded to either 12mm structural plywood, 13mm plaster board or 12 mm medium density fibre board. Our lead-lined laminate sheeting features include:
For Plasterboard | Sheet Thickness: 0.44mm and 0.88mm is most suitable for laminating to plaster board.
For Plasterboard | Sheet Dimensions: Lead laminated sheets are 1200mm wide and up to 3000 mm long .
For Plywood & medium density fibreboard | Sheet Thickness: 1.32mm, 1.76mm, 2.20mm, 2.64mm and 3.52mm are best bonded to 12mm plywood or medium density fibre board.
For Plywood & medium density fibreboard | Sheet Dimensions: 1200mm wide x 2100mm long, 1200mm wide x 2400mm long or 1200mm wide x 2700mm long.
Lead Glass and Frames
As part of our highly flexible and customisable manufacturing and installation service, our lead glass and frames offer the following features:
- Thickness ranging from 8mm to 100mm
- Cut to any required size
- We provide a pressed metal lead lined frame to comply with the physicist radiation shielding design for the application required.

- Lead lined timber door frames – can be made to measure

Lead-Lined Doors
Our lead lined doors boast a range of features, including:
- Solid core lead lined doors are available in paint quality plywood or medium density fibre board
- Standard thickness of lead sheet is bonded internally within the door
- Lead sheet is specified in either kilograms, per metre, or thickness in millimetres
- Radiation shielded doors range from five kilograms up to 40 kilograms per square metre
- Radiation shielded doors are available in sizes up to 2400mm wide x 2400 mm high, with 40mm and 50mm thickness
- Lead glass view panels can be fitted to doors as required.
